April 13 – A half-cent property tax for the public bus system has gotten backing from multiple City Council members, putting it on track for inclusion in the July 1 fiscal year budget.A half cent property tax for the public bus system has gotten backing from multiple City Council members, putting it on track for inclusion in the July 1 fiscal year budget.

The additional tax would more than cover the $630,000 for two transit improvements: expanding 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday service and adding evening hours to some routes.

The tax would cost of the owner of a $200,000 home, business or piece of land an extra $10 a year in city property taxes. The owner of a $1 million property would pay an additional $50. Read the complete article at:
