Bus drivers and fare boxes cannot make change. If you do not have the correct change, the overpay amount will be added to a Fare Card, that can be used on future rides.
FARES
Regular Fare: $1.00 per Ride
Persons with Disabilities: $.50 per Ride*
Senior Citizens/Students/Medicare Card Holders: $.50 per Ride*
Children under age 5: Free
Transfer Passes: Free
If you need to get a Transfer Pass for the next Rider bus, please alert the driver as you board the bus. Transfer Passes are used when more than one bus is needed to get to your destination. The Transfer Pass is valid on the next available bus only and expires after 85 minutes. The expiration time is stamped on the Transfer Pass for your convenience. Transfers are good only at approved transfer points.

Passes are good for 10 bus rides and can be purchased at the City Offices in Concord and Kannapolis and the Rider Transit System Office. *REDUCED-FARE
A Reduced-Fare ID Card or a Medicare Card is required for all discount rates. Be prepared to show your Reduced-Fare ID Card or your Medicare Card (with photo ID) to receive discount. Qualified individuals (Persons with disabilities, senior citizens 65 and older, and students with a valid ID) can obtain a Reduced-Fare ID Card application one of the following ways:
• Online (print out and mail completed form to the address at the top of the form)
• at the City of Concord Municipal Building, 26 Union Street South
• at the City of Kannapolis City Hall, 246 Oak Avenue
• at the RIDER Transit System Office, 135 Cabarrus Avenue East
• at the City of Concord Public Housing Administration Office, 283 Harold Goodman Circle, S.W
• or by calling Rider Customer Care at 704.920.7433 and request one be mailed or faxed to you.
Senior Citizens are defined as people 65 and older - be prepared to show your Reduced-Fare ID Card if asked.
Students must show your Reduced-Fare ID Card to receive student discount.
Medicare Card Holders must show your Medicare card (with photo ID) to receive a Reduced-Fare ID Card.
Reduced-Fare Bus Passes and the Reduced-Fair ID Cards are NOT transferable — the discounted rate is only valid for the person who qualified for the Reduced-Fare ID card.
Rider is ADA accessible
Priority Seating is available for persons with disabilities as well as senior citizens on the Rider vehicles. Be prepared to show your Reduced-Fare ID Card if paying with cash or ordering Reduced-Fare Rider Bus Passes.
